Tamiflu.
Tamiflu (oseltamivir) is a prescription medicine intended for the treatment or prevention of flu. When taken to prevent flu this drug helps to shorten the period during which you have joint aches, sore throat, tiredness, headache, cough, muscle aches, stuffy or runny nose, chills and fever. You will need to take Tamiflu for 5 days to treat the symptoms of your flu, or for 10 days to prevent it. Before taking the first dose tall your health care provider if you have lung disease, heart disease, kidney disease, acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, liver disease, or human immunodeficiency virus, as those medical conditions may affect the dose you are prescribed. The liquid form of Tamiflu must be measured with the help of the special measuring device – do not use any spoons for that purpose. Some of the side effects you may get include headache, vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach pain. Tell your health care provider if they persist and do not go away. Let your doctor know if any drugs you are taking can interfere with Tamiflu. The following ones are known to do that: cyclosporine, oral steroids, sirolimus, tacrolimus, methotrexate, azathioprine, and cancer chemotherapy medications.
